Hector Rivera

My name is Hector Rivera, your neighbor, and I am running for Florida State Senator for District 30, representing Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, Margate, and Parkland, and parts of Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, and Pompano Beach.

I am the underdog candidate, affiliated with the district's minority party. I am your grassroots, neighborhood candidate, and I humbly ask you to give me the opportunity to be your voice in Tallahassee, regardless of the Party labels we wear. As a local business owner, I have spent decades finding ways to help families achieve the American Dream of homeownership. My commitment has always been centered on family values, and I stand firm on faith, family, and neighborhoods over party politics.

Real-world business skills, not just a diploma — Hector's plan partners local entrepreneurs with Florida high schools so students build and run small, teacher-guided ventures, learning budgeting, sales, and leadership alongside the standard curriculum. Graduates leave school understanding how to build something of their own, not just how to find a job.

Elections and voting

Voting & Values Hector believes no Floridian should be disenfranchised due to cost, distance, or lack of access to vital records. He supports state-funded mobile documentation clinics, fee waivers for low-income residents, and partnerships with county clerks to streamline access to certified birth and marriage certificates. He specifically notes that women who changed their names through marriage or divorce often face added hurdles, and supports free certified copies and expedited processing so that voting — a constitutional right — isn't burdened by cost.

Environment and climate

Restoring coral reefs and improving water quality in South Florida's canals matters to Hector — he backs state partnerships with local nonprofits and civic volunteers to protect the natural resources that drive our tourism economy and quality of life for generations to come.

Healthcare

Modernizing school safety with airport-grade screening systems so our kids can learn free of fear, and making mental health counselors available to students.

Healthcare Lower costs without higher taxes is the goal — Hector backs state-level legislation encouraging self-funding healthcare models, expanded state-negotiated prescription pricing, increased telehealth access, and targeted subsidies for vulnerable populations. He also supports streamlining Medicaid administration to reduce waste and redirect savings toward coverage expansion — with the goal of healthcare that is accessible, transparent, and financially sustainable for Florida families. Faster, more affordable care for the men and women who served — that's what Hector wants for veterans in Palm Beach and Broward counties, through expanded partnerships between the state's veterans' hospitals and community health providers, and lower out-of-pocket costs for veterans and their families.

Housing

A state-backed, low-rate bond program to stop sudden, crushing fee hikes caused by mandatory reserve requirements and extensive repairs.

Policyholder-owned reciprocal insurance exchanges and mandatory rate reductions tied to state reinsurance backing, so premiums pay claims, not shareholder dividends.

2026 brought real relief — Citizens Property Insurance cut rates statewide, with some of the largest drops in Broward and Palm Beach counties, and 17 new insurers have entered Florida's market. Hector says the job isn't finished; see his full insurance plan under Priorities above.

electrivera.com ·

Beyond tax and insurance reform, Hector supports expanding public-private workforce housing partnerships that are self-funded and reduce reliance on taxpayer subsidies.

electrivera.com ·

Hector's Solution Champion policyholder-owned reciprocal insurance exchanges — homeowners pool risk across regions and own the carrier, so premiums pay claims, not shareholder dividends Require any carrier receiving state reinsurance backing to pass savings to policyholders as measurable rate reductions — not press releases Fight for state-backed, low-interest financing of condo special assessments, so safety compliance never forces a retiree out of a paid-off home

Infrastructure and transportation

Yes. In a boating- and travel-heavy community like ours, families deserve to know that charter buses, boats, and aircraft are held to the highest safety standard. Hector supports requiring the newest available safety equipment and annual certified inspections for charter passenger transportation operating in Florida, with no exemptions for older vehicles or vessels that haven't been retrofitted.

Florida's biggest challenges are (1) skyrocketing insurance costs and (2) out-of-control over-development projects overwhelming aging infrastructure.

Local control

Hector believes local laws are best decided locally, not overridden by developer-friendly state preemption. See his "Density Ceiling" proposal under Priorities above for the specifics.

Emergency management

No. Hector supports state legislation prohibiting insurance carriers from denying a valid claim or death benefit simply because the loss occurred during a Governor-declared state of emergency, such as a hurricane. Floridians pay some of the highest premiums in the country — a declared emergency shouldn't become a loophole for insurers to walk away from a legitimate claim.
