Thinking for yourself matters

Position on major issues

Abortion and reproductive policy

Reproductive Rights: Silvers campaigns in defense of bodily autonomy, explicitly supporting reproductive freedom and treating abortion access as a matter of personal healthcare choice.

Criminal justice and policing

“In the Florida Legislature, I’ve worked with my colleagues to champion smart policies that benefit Palm Beach County and our state. I’m incredibly proud of the efforts made on mental health and criminal justice reform, in addition to supporting public education, women’s rights and our senior families.”

Economy, jobs and wages

Affordable Housing and Economic Development: Silvers supports expanding affordable housing development incentives to help seniors, low-income families, and working-class Floridians secure stable living conditions amidst the state's cost-of-living challenges.

Education

When I was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives, in 2016, my initial goal was to become a champion for education reform, but after I was elected, I learned of the many mental health pitfalls awaiting so many children here in Florida.

Elections and voting

Voting Rights Accessibility: On election logistics, Silvers vocally opposes state measures that restrict ballot access. In an October 2026 candidate profile published by the South Florida Sun Sentinel, he stated he would have voted against restrictive voter ID legislation like HB 991, calling it an attempt to "make it more difficult for those who are legally allowed to vote" to exercise their rights.

Healthcare

As we come to the end of Mental Health Awareness Month, it is imperative that we focus on mental health advocacy. For far too long, there has been a stigma associated with seeking treatment for mental health disorders whether it be cerebral issues, such as depression, or physical issues, such as anorexia, cutting and bulimia.

Florida has experienced a significant increase in psychiatric crisis hospitalizations of children and teens in recent years, and an increase in those children being repeatedly hospitalized in the same year.

This legislative session, I had the honor to sponsor and pass the Genetic Counseling Patient Protection Act, which will improve Floridians' access to critical health care services as well as access to workforce opportunities in a rapidly growing career field.

Housing

Affordable Housing and Economic Development: Silvers supports expanding affordable housing development incentives to help seniors, low-income families, and working-class Floridians secure stable living conditions amidst the state's cost-of-living challenges.

Social Security and retirement

Protecting Seniors and Vulnerable Groups: His legislative track record includes sponsoring laws aimed at shielding senior investors from predatory financial scams and expanding state-level support systems for victims of domestic violence.

Other statements

As both a husband and father, my greatest responsibility is to protect and support my family. As a member of the Florida House of Representatives, that responsibility extends to fighting for policies that ensure the safety, prosperity and freedom of all Floridians.
