Brian Mast describes a lifelong commitment to serving the United States, inspired by his family’s patriotism and work ethic. He served more than 12 years in the U.S. Army, including as a bomb disposal expert under Joint Special Operations Command. After losing both legs to an improvised explosive device, he underwent intensive rehabilitation and continued supporting national-security agencies. Following military retirement, he worked for the Department of Homeland Security and volunteered alongside the Israel Defense Forces. Mast presents his congressional service as a continuation of his commitment to defending the country and serving others without regard for personal gain or sacrifice.
