Professionally, Porras is a small business owner and a lifelong Miami resident who holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Florida International University. Before his election, he built a career in public service working as a legislative aide and constituent services caseworker in the offices of U.S. Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, as well as several state lawmakers. Within the legislature, he holds a significant role as the Vice Chair of the Commerce Committee and sits on the Select Committee on Property Taxes.
